Friends of Decorative Arts: Stitch Me Up, Scotty! Costumes Across The Galaxy

The decorative arts – fine furniture, jewelry, ceramics, and glass – are all around us and in the Museum. FODA expands understanding of their variety and beauty. Plus, you will make new friends at the meetings. Annual dues are $50 in addition to a minimum of a Dual Level Museum membership.

FODA programs are held on the second Tuesday of the month at 2 pm during season. Non-FODA members can attend for $5, plus MFA admission. Carolyn Nygren is the volunteer coordinator.

Amy J. Cianci has been a professional Costume Designer for more than 20 years. Her work as been seen in theatres and art spaces all over the Sarasota and Tampa Bay areas, Broadway, and beyond. She is the recipient of many awards including the Tampa Bay Theatre Award and Best of the Bay for Costume Design. In August of 2016, she had the unique opportunity to design a Science Fiction inspired Pirates of Penzance for freeFall Theatre in St. Petersburg. Drawing from iconic imagery and sounds from Star Wars, Star Trek, Dr. Who, and dozens of other beloved Sci-Fi shows on the big and small screens, the Pirates Production Team took audiences on a swashbuckling adventure through the Galaxy to find love. Join Amy for a journey through the costume research and design process from concept drawings to dress rehearsal and finally Opening Night!
