Friends of Decorative Arts: The Transformative Power of Architecture

The decorative arts – fine furniture, jewelry, ceramics, and glass – are all around us and in the Museum. FODA expands understanding of their variety and beauty. Plus, you will make new friends at the meetings. Annual dues are $50 in addition to a minimum of a Dual Level Museum membership.

FODA programs are held on the second Tuesday of the month at 2 pm during season. Non-FODA members can attend for $5, plus MFA admission. Carolyn Nygren is the volunteer coordinator.

The places we create change how we behave, work, plan, and think, and in turn, great public buildings transform their surroundings. Architect Yann Weymouth will discuss the transformative power of architecture, using several museums in which he led the design (including the Museum of Fine Arts Conservatory and Hough Wing, the Dali Museum, and the James Museum of Western & Wildlife Art, St. Petersburg, which will open early next year). Weymouth will share how, during his 50 years as an architect, he has constantly sought to meet new challenges, push the envelope, and to create transformative architecture that makes a difference.
