The brilliant Jean Schlumberger (1907–1987) lived an extraordinary, artful, and rarefied life.  His remarkable imagination was matched by his skill in designing some of the most beautiful jewelry of the 20th-century, pieces that were celebrated as timeless and iconic even in their own time. Indeed, many of his pieces remain in production today at Tiffany & Co.

Join us for an intimate look into the friendships and relationships of Schlumberger, from his close relationship with American horticulturalist, gardener, philanthropist, and art collector Rachel Lambert “Bunny” Mellon to his long-time partner Luc Bouchage.  We’ll also look at the close-knit personal and professional relationships of “Bunny” Mellon.  Speaking at this special event will be Architect Yann Weymouth, Rachel Lambert “Bunny” Mellon biographer Meryl Gordon, and Amy McHugh, assistant curator for Tiffany & Co.  Moderating will be Stanton Thomas, PhD, the Museum of Fine Art’s curator of collections and exhibitions.

Lecture will be held 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm in the Marly Room.

Meryl Gordon will be signing copies of her book Bunny Mellon: The Life of an American Style Legend before and after the lecture.
