Make & Take Saturdays
Create your own masterpiece inspired by works in the collection and special exhibitions. Supplies are included.
Details for each program will be posted as soon as they are available.
First and third Saturday of the month.
FREE with Museum admission. No registration necessary.
Recommended for ages five and older, but entire families are encouraged to participate.
January 20: Obis and Obi Wan Kenobi – Learn about the Obi, a sash part of traditional male and female Japanese clothing, from the Clearwater Sister Cities Organization. Participants will use supplies provided to decorate and then wear their own paper obi or Obi Wan Kenobi vest.
February 3 and 17: Han Horse vs. AT-AT; Animal vs Machine – The Han Horse wasn’t equipped with blasters or impervious armor, but similar to the Galactic Empire’s AT-AT it played an important role in the Han Dynasty – in China, not Han Solo’s family tree. Use the provided materials to create your own animal or fantastical creature designed to save the day.
March 3 and 17: C3PO 4ever – This is the droid we are looking for. Create a portrait or a pair of golden shoes celebrating the witty, sometimes snippy, droid that is fluent in over 7 million forms of communications: C3PO!
April 7 and 21: Space-scapes – Visit the installation in the Mink gallery and create your own work of art inspired by images of the moon, stars, and planets.
