Makeig-Jones was actively involved in every step of production to ensure that her designs were properly executed. She closely supervised the engravers and painters implementing her designs. Copper engravings were made to print “pottery tissues,” which were then rubbed onto the fired vessel while the ink was wet. The paintresses then applied color and the lusterers applied the glazes with many firings in between. Finally, the gold details were transferred and burnished.
