Collectors Circle Lecture: “Fakes, Frauds, and Scholars”

Free and open to the Public.

Dr. Robert Cohon, Curator of Ancient Art at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, will focus on “Fakes, Frauds, and Scholars.”  He has presented versions of this lecture at Emory University, the University of Virginia, and the Art Institute of Chicago, among other venues, and has written extensively on the topic in national and international journals.  He curated the traveling exhibitions Discovery and Deceit: Archaeology and the Forger’s Craft and Treasures of Deceit.

Among his other exhibitions are Spring Fashions, 1 B.C., and Echoes of Eternity: The Egyptian Mummy and the Afterlife.  As a professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, he has published extensively on the muses and creative process in the ancient world.  He holds his B.A. from Columbia University and his PhD from the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University.
