Cinema @ the MFA – Egó Sympósion: Film by Yasumasa Morimura

Egó Sympósion (2016) is the Florida debut of Morimura Yasumasa, the noted Japanese appropriation artist. Featured in our photography exhibition This Is Not a Selfie: Photographic Self-Portraits from the Audrey and Sydney Irmas Collection, Yasumasa borrows images from historical artists (ranging from Rembrandt to Cindy Sherman), and inserts his own face and body into them; many of which go against his racial, ethnic, and gender boundaries as an Asian male. This avant-garde film stars the artist as 12 famed self-portraitists and is both entertaining and visually stunning.

$5 movie ticket, plus MFA admission ($10 after 5pm on Thursdays). Free for members.

All ticket purchasers must register or sign in. MFA Member discounts will be applied AFTER tickets are added to your shopping cart. Please click HERE to purchase.
