Erotica: An Evening with Venus

Erotica: An Evening with Venus explores erotic imagery in ancient Roman art.  Dr. Robert Steven Bianchi, Chief Curator of the Fondation Gandur pour l’Art/Genève, will whet your appetite for romance in a fully-illustrated lecture.  He will introduce selections of sensually-themed graffiti from Pompeii to binding spells used by an ardent lover.

The evening features a rousing artisans’ market with displays of fashion, jewelry, chocolate, and more.  Special performance by Matthew McGee of FreeFall Theatre staged by Scott Daniel of MattocS Productions.

MFA Café open 5 – 8p.m.

Admission includes lecture, galleries, a champagne toast, and a delectable dessert.  Full cash bar.  Complimentary valet.

Erotica is presented by the Public Programs Department and the Museum Store in partnership with Spathose LLC.
