Friends of Decorative Arts Handling Session: A Closer Look at Dutch and American Furniture

This program will feature the careful examination of two pieces of purportedly 18th century furniture—one Dutch and one American— to learn about construction methods, style, finish, and ultimately, authenticity. We will also discuss what makes a piece museum worthy, and how the museum both acquires and de-accessions works. Lead by Dr. Stanton Thomas, Curator of Collections and Exhibitions; Erin Wilson, Curatorial Assistant; Stephanie Chill, Curatorial Assistant; and Ashley Burke, Registrar, this is a rare opportunity to critically examine works in the Museum of Fine Art’s Collection.
Limited Spaces, RSVP required. All sales are final.
