Designing the Stage with Katherine Pill – Friends of Decorative Arts Lecture Series

The MFA’s Curator of Contemporary Art Katherine Pill will explore works in the Art of the Stage: Picasso to Hockneythe Museum’s special exhibition of paintings, costumes, prints, and drawings of design for ballet and opera. Highlights include splendid designs and stage sets for the fabeled Ballets Russes. Drawn from the collection of Robert Tobin at the McNay Art Museum (San Antonio, Texas), this talk celebrates his belief that “designs come to life only when they are used.”

  • Cost: $10, plus MFA admission; $10 for MFA members; and free for MFA Friends of Decorative Arts members.
  • Coffee and cookies will be available. Doors for the lecture open at 1:45 pm. Early attendees are invited to view the galleries.
  • Interested in other Decorative Arts lectures?  Join us for Drama in Ancient Greek Pottery in March and Native American Art: Tradition and Transformation in April.
