Make & Take

MakeTake_headerFirst and Third Saturday of the month, 11am – 2pm
FREE with Museum admission. No registration is necessary.
For ages five and older, but entire families are encouraged to participate in the make and take activities.

Create your own masterpiece inspired by works in the collection and special exhibitions. Supplies are included.

January 3 and 17:  Walk through the galleries and look for different forms and ways of decorating ceramics.  Use the designs and colors to paint your own piggybank.

February 7 and 21:  How many boats can you find in the paintings in Monet to Matisse – On the French Coast? Be inspired by all that you count and maker your own paper sailboat.  Let your creativity set sail!

March 7 and 21:  The Museum blooms this month.  Explore the galleries looking for flowers in art.  Create your own artworks inspired by Mother Nature – from bottle-cap bugs to fantastical flowers.

April 4 and 18: Celebrate Earth Day by creating a unique piece for a string garden, inspired by kokedama, a Japanese art form that uses moss as a plant-container.

May 2 and 16: Make a print without using a press. A variety of paper and woodblock plates will be available.

June 6 and 20: Explore photography while using sunlight to make sun prints.
