VIRTUAL Cocktails & Collections

Every 3rd Thursday of the month, join us for a live virtual event featuring art from the MFA’s special exhibitions and newly-renovated Collection galleries. Make an art-inspired signature cocktail ahead of time (we’ll provide the recipe), and enjoy a specially curated art tour from home!

Featured exhibition — Explore the Vaults: Abstraction and the American Scene

Assistant Curator Erin Wilson will take us on virtual gallery tour of this special exhibition that looks at the dramatic shift in art-making in America in the first half of the twentieth century. Industrial growth and social awareness, coupled with an economic downturn, helped shape a new and definitive American art during this time. Celebrating rarely seen and light-sensitive works from the MFA’s collection, this second iteration of our Explore the Vaults series examines imagery produced predominately between 1900 and 1950—a period that witnessed radical changes that shaped not only art, but the very understanding of what it was to be American.

Signature cocktail — Gin Rickey (Get recipe here)

Erin Wilson joined the MFA’s curatorial team in 2017. She has been involved with such diverse exhibitions as Fairyland Lustre, The Darkly Magical World of Daisy Makeig-Jones (2018-19), and “The Grasshopper and the Ant” and Other Stories as told by Jennifer Angus (2019-20). Her most recent installation is Explore the Vaults: Abstraction and the American Scene. Wilson received her BA in Arts Administration from the University of Tampa, and her MA in Art History from the University of South Florida.
