This month’s event features a live virtual gallery tour with Katherine Pill, MFA Curator of Contemporary Art, in conversation with Special Guest James E. Bartlett, founder of OpenArt and co-curator of this important show.

James E. Bartlett is the co-curator of Derrick Adams: Buoyant with Laura Vookles, Chair of the Curatorial Department at the Hudson River Museum, the organizer of the exhibition with MFA, St. Petersburg. Bartlett is an arts entrepreneur, curator, and founding partner of OpenArt, a company dedicated to making the art world more transparent and accessible. From 2012 to 2018, he served as Executive Director of the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts (MoCADA), in Brooklyn, New York. There, he curated multiple exhibitions, and led a $10 million dollar capital campaign for the development of the museum’s new building. Bartlett, holds a Global Executive MBA from IESE Business School, an M.S. in Publishing and Media Studies from New York University, and a B.A. from Loyola University.
