Personal Prints: Copying Event

To celebrate the exhibition Lizzi Bougatsos and Lonnie Holley: Never the Same Song, which showcases the beauty of improvisation and the power of found objects, FAX 727-289-3069 and the MFA invite you to join a unique collaborative art event on the steps of the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg! We encourage you to participate by bringing a meaningful handheld object to duplicate in two dimensions using the FAX copy machine. Each object will be copied twice: one copy for you to take home and one to be displayed in Poetry Alley during our August installation. For more information about the FAX project, visit @fax7272893069 on Instagram.

FAX 727-289-3069 (FAX) is a collaborative social art and poetry project. The core of the work centers around a monthly flier project at Poetry Alley, the alley south of Central Ave between 20th and 28th streets. On the first of the month, FAX installs 64 unique fliers on the power poles of the alley. These fliers revolve around images and text all related to a theme. FAX has three dedicated members Keifer Calkins, Eleanor Eichenbaum, and Tyler Gillespie, and aims to create dialogue and collaboration with other artists, writers, organizations, and events to facilitate the many voices and visions within our community. The Fax project utilizes tools such as fax machines, copy machines, and zine making to produce a product that speaks to analog social forms of communication that react with the “real world” around us. The project is self-funded and produced.
