Dr. Kathleen Barry has been an avid collector of local, regional and national artists for nearly two decades. In that time, she has filled her beautiful, vintage Old Northeast home with a wide-ranging and irreverent collection ranging from folk art to sculpture. Her collecting philosophy lends itself to developing deeply personal collector/artist relationships; in one instance, a small art purchase led to a years-long mail art correspondence with Hunter Payne. Join us as we explore the nooks and crannies of Dr. Barry’s sunny, art-filled home and learn more about her first purchase, why she collects locally, and her steadfast support of young artists. Drinks and appetizers will be available.

The Contemporaries was formed to build engagement among contemporary art enthusiasts with the Museum of Fine Art’s diverse programming, with a focus on supporting contemporary artists and exhibitions at the MFA and throughout the Tampa Bay area.
