July 6 | Lunchtime Lecture: Contemporary African Photography
This talk features Dr. Allison Moore, Assistant Professor, African and Contemporary Art History at USF Tampa. Dr. Moore’s research focuses on the intersections of the global and the local, and in postcolonial and feminist theories as applied to contemporary African art. She will give an introduction to contemporary African photography, covering studio portraiture’s exhibition as fine art; press photography; the development of art photography and the founding of the Bamako Biennale in Mali; and current photography exhibitions in Nigeria and Ethiopia.
