The Contemporaries host Lunchtime Lectures, a grab bag of artist talks, panel discussions, and art historical lectures that focus on contemporary themes during the lunch hour of the first Monday of each month.

July 6 | Lunchtime Lecture: Contemporary African Photography

This talk features Dr. Allison Moore, Assistant Professor, African and Contemporary Art History at USF Tampa. Dr. Moore’s research focuses on the intersections of the global and the local, and in postcolonial and feminist theories as applied to contemporary African art. She will give an introduction to contemporary African photography, covering studio portraiture’s exhibition as fine art; press photography; the development of art photography and the founding of the Bamako Biennale in Mali; and current photography exhibitions in Nigeria and Ethiopia.
