The Story of Art | The Grand Narrative

The Story of Art series focuses on the story of art history, one that is continually being retold as we discover new things and look afresh at the familiar. Join MFA curators on a journey to learn more about our collection, contextualized with other objects from around the world, as we take a grand tour through the story of art.

The series will kick off on February 16 with The Grand Narrative presented by Interim Executive Director Anne-Marie Russell.

Anne-Marie Russell, Interim Executive Director at the MFA, has more than 25 years of expertise in cultural production leadership. Prior to joining the MFA, Anne-Marie was the inaugural Executive Director of the Sarasota Art Museum and previously the Executive Director and Chief Curator of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Tucson. She also served as the founding Executive Director for Architecture Sarasota. Anne-Marie received a BA in cultural anthropology from the University of Colorado at Boulder and an MA in art history from the University of Arizona.
