SUMMARY:Sensory Saturday | Hands-On with Curious Creations Co.
DESCRIPTION:Families with children with sensory sensitivities are invited to explore the galleries during our Sensory Saturday. Sensory fidgets\, noise-canceling headphones\, and regulating tools are available for visitors of all ages to borrow at the Visitor Services desk. \nAlso\, join our Sensory Saturday Hands-On program for activities filled with sensory play\, fine motor skill exploration\, and artmaking. Experiment with non-toxic\, sensory-friendly materials this month outside the museum under the Bombax Tree. Activities are generally geared towards ages 2-6. For a limited time\, during the months of October and November\, this program is FREE!  \nSensory Saturdays occur on the first Saturday of every month. \nSat\, Nov 7\, 10 AM – 12 PM \nActivities under the Bombax Tree are free and do not require museum admission.\nA museum admission ticket is required for access to the galleries.\nMFA Members receive free gallery admission. \nMFA ADMISSION \nNot yet a member?\nBecome a member today and enjoy all the benefits membership at the MFA offers!\nEnjoy free admission\, special access\, discounts at the MFA Shop and Café Clementine\, and more. DESCRIPTION:Follow the beat and step into the vibrant world of masquerade at this free\, family-friendly community celebration outside of the museum walls. Through live performance\, artmaking\, music\, dance\, and drumming\, you’ll discover the creativity\, innovation\, and living traditions shaping contemporary masquerade. \nGet moving with a dynamic performance by the Kuumba Dancers & Drummers  followed by an interactive dance and drumming workshop\, where everyone can find the rhythm together. \nOffering a distinctly local vision of masquerade\, St. Petersburg artist iBOMS (Jabari Reed-Diop) makes a special appearance with his original masquerade\, Tufani: Lion of the Florida Wilds\, inspired by Florida’s powerful storm systems and influenced by Egungun masquerade traditions of the Yoruba and Zangbeto traditions of Benin\, Togo\, and Nigeria. \nKeep the creativity going and make something of your own! Create colorful wearable adornments\, design your own rhythm shaker\, and transform the energy of music and dance into visual art through movement-inspired drawing activities led by the MFA’s Teen Arts Council. Let the kids get hands-on with Celine from Curious Creations Co.!
