Eggshell porcelain with famille rose enamels

Gift of Mrs. Henry Duits

1974.34.1

Painstakingly pared down with sharp trimming tools until the walls are phenomenally thin, this “eggshell” porcelain is amazingly light and transparent. On the underside are the reign marks of the Yongzheng emperor, who ruled during one of the apogees of Chinese ceramic art.
