The Story of Art | Art Until Rome: 2700 B.C.-A.D. 300

The Story of Art series focuses on the story of art history, one that is continually being retold as we discover new things and look afresh at the familiar. Join MFA curators on a journey to learn more about our collection, contextualized with other objects from around the world, as we take a grand tour through the story of art.

Art Until Rome: 2700 B.C.–A.D. 300 is presented by Senior Curator of Ancient Art Dr. Michael Bennett.

Senior Curator of Ancient Art Dr. Michael Bennett received his doctorate in Fine Arts (Art History) from Harvard University in 1994. He served as Keeper of the Coins (Curator of Ancient Coins) in the Department of Ancient Art, Harvard University, from 1989-1994. From 1995-1998 he was curator of Classical Art at the Tampa Museum of Art. For the next two decades (1998-2018), he was curator of Greek and Roman Art at the Cleveland Museum of Art and is now senior curator of Ancient Art at the MFA, St. Petersburg.
