Drawing largely from the MFA’s permanent collection, the exhibition traces abstraction from the early days of Modernism to the present, highlighting how artists use color, shape, and form to express ideas, emotions, and new ways of seeing. The Question of Abstraction invites visitors to look beyond representation and consider how this influential approach continues to shape the way we experience art and the world around us.
