This month: Glass artists Nic Emeric and Jake Pfeifer

Meet the artists for brunch at 1:30 p.m. in the MFA Café, followed by their talk at 3 p.m. Please call 727.822.1032 for brunch reservations. No reservations are required for their presentation.

Nic Emeric is the Hot Shop Manager for Hot Sand, a glassblowing studio on the New Jersey Shore and is becoming known for his glass sculpture. He holds his AFA in glass from Salem Community College and his BFA from Jacksonville University.

Jake Pfeifer came to art through personal tragedy. At the age of five, he was diagnosed with a rare cancer and was given very little chance of survival. He has defied the odds and turned to the transformative power of glass art. He has observed: “From the fire emerges beautiful things—first, my life and second, the art that I able to create.”

The owner of Hot Glass Alley in New Jersey, he works in a hot shop in Reading, Pennsylvania. He combines traditional Italian and Swedish with contemporary techniques. Mr. Pfeifer holds his BFA in glass from the School of American Crafts, Rochester Institute of Technology, and completed a two-year residency at Flame Run in Louisville, Kentucky.
