Skyway 20/21 Artist Check-Ins

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Skyway 2020 has become Skyway 2021, and so we are checking in with participating artists to see how they’re doing during this time of social distancing, and learning more about their studio practices. Skyway 20/21 is the second iteration of the exhibition celebrating the diversity and talent of artists in the Tampa Bay area. It is also an exercise in collaboration, as it is shared between four institutions: Museum of Fine Arts St. Petersburg, The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, the Tampa Museum of Art, and the USF Contemporary Art Museum.

In total, 48 artists have been selected from across Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, and Sarasota Counties. At the Museum of Fine Arts, we will exhibit the work of 15 artists that address, by varied means, the natural environment. In Florida, where hurricanes, flooding and erosion are real threats, discussing the weather is not a cliché, but an integral and pressing part of life in the (sub)tropics.

Please join us as we check in with some of the participating artists!  And bookmark this page as we add more artist check ins!
