As Jeanne creates her arrangement, MFA Chief Curator, Dr. Stanton Thomas, will share insights into the fascinating connections between ikebana and our latest special exhibition Kimono: The Triumph of Japanese Dress.

ABOUT JEANNE HOULTON

Jeanne Houlton is a Stuart Society Member and President of the Ichiyo of Ikebana Florida. She started Ikebana lessons 54 years ago and continues to take lessons from the headmaster of the Ichiyo School. She has participated in Art in Bloom for 27 years.
ABOUT DR. STANTON THOMAS

Chief Curator Dr. Stanton Thomas received his Ph.D. in Northern Renaissance art from Case Western University, and holds an MA from the University of Missouri, Columbia. His recent projects at the MFA include Pieced & Patterned: American Quilts, c. 1800-1930 (2021-2022), Bernini and the Roman Baroque: Masterpieces from Palazzo Chigi in Ariccia (2022), True Nature: Rodin and the Age of Impressionism (2022-2023), The Nature of Art (2023-2024), Audubon’s Birds of America (2024-2025), and Kimono: The Triumph of Japanese Dress (2025)
