Originally considered to be Chinese, this vase is now thought to be by a Korean potter inspired by Chinese Song/Yuan dynasty ceramic traditions. This traditional vase is decorated with a flowering prunus branch, similar to the motif on the Chinese teapot in this case. Symbolizing spring, the prunus also represents in Asia endurance and lasting stability in adverse weather and times.
